David Constantine sent his Chairman’s report to all FERYO members in advance of the AGM. Within, he thanked everyone who had supported the fundraising work of the Friends over the past year. He highlighted some of the main events, for example, the annual Jazz & Quiz night and the celebrations of the Senior Wind Band and Percussion Ensemble 25th Anniversary Day involving present and past members of both ensembles.

David drew members’ attention to the value of the Christmas busk and bag-pack at Beverley Morrisons, which raised over £1000! He also mentioned how the smaller fundraisers – raffles, tombolas, tuck shops, refreshments and Smarties coin refills – add up to make really big total contributions. Of course, regular subscriptions and sponsorships form the backbone of the Friends annual income.

Ben Croombs was deserving of huge awe, appreciation and thanks for his extreme feat of endurance. Quite incredible!

David then summarised how, from this fundraising, FERYO has been able to continue a commitment to ensure that all members of all ensembles benefit from the opportunities presented to them. He thanked Peter Walker for his enthusiastic support and Fiona Latham for her vital communication link between FERYO, the SMS and parents/carers.

On behalf of all the Committee, David recognised the work that had been done by three members – Tara Nelson, Matthew Harrington and Mike Wilson – who, for varying reasons, have chosen to step down from the committee.

David concluded his report with this:

"FERYO continues to fundraise because of the existence of a host of terrific ensembles, led by the dedicated teachers of the East Riding Schools’ Music Service. However, FERYO is entirely dependent on the work and support of volunteers. If at allpossible, do please consider offering your helpduring the forthcoming year."
