Sunday 5th May was a great success, if the positive, parting comments of audience members were anything to go by. As always, the Youth Jazz Orchestra, directed by Rachael Dixon, played impressively. And the Friends organised a fantastic buffet.
The quiz challenged in a variety of ways. Guests were asked to find connections in the style of BBC’s ‘Only Connect’, recognise European countries by shape, then pool the collective wisdom and experience of all team members to answer questions on The Natural World, Science, Disney, History and Music. Congratulations to the winning team this year, quite inappropriately named ‘Pointless’ as on this occasion the highest score was the winner!!
The evening’s entertainment continued with the tremendous, uplifting music performed by the Youth Jazz Orchestra. There was even opportunity for party goers to work off a few calories in a few dances. The floor space soon filled with enthusiastic twosomes!
The event raised just over the tidy sum of £800, which will go towards supporting this summer’s tour to be undertaken by the Jazz Orchestra along with the Senior Wind Band.
