As expected, funding continues to be under pressure.

However, the level of reserves is kept regularly under review. Receipts for the year were just over £11,000, which was over £2,000 down on last year. This could in part be explained by the fact that last year’s figures included 3 years’ Gift Aid.

In total, the Friends have provided £7,860 towards the Schools’ Music Service activities this year. The Friends have continued to be able to pledge up to £10,000 to support the summer tour.

Economic conditions continue to be difficult but the Friends and volunteers have, once again, worked hard to keep up their profile and fund raising. Alternative methods of fund raising will continue to be explored by the Committee.

Tracy commented on how well the current Committee works as a team and is able to maintain a close relationship with the Schools’ Music Service and with parents of ensemble members. She added her thanks to all the Committee and volunteers, singling out Pauline Gaskell, who worked throughout the year to obtain raffle prizes and donations.
