You don’t have to have kids in one of the orchestras or ensembles to be a member of the Friends but if you have you’ll know just how important the work of the Friends is. Membership of the Friends costs only £15 per year, which goes towards supporting all the members of the orchestras and ensembles. You can read about some of the things the Friends do and how they benefit the orchestras here on this website. You’ll get more details of these activities and more information in the termly Newsletter that is sent to all “Friends”, as well as discounts available when you show your membership card to some of our sponsors. For more details of the benefits of membership and how to subscribe please email admin@feryo.co.uk or down load a subscription form to complete and it post off with your cheque. |

The ‘Friends’ is a registered charity set up over 42 years ago to raise money to benefit all members of the various orchestras and ensembles of the East Riding Schools’ Music Service. It is run by a committee of volunteer parents who have children in an ensemble or orchestra. Funds are raised by subscription, sponsorship, and events such as Barn Dances, Jazz Concerts, and bag-packing or through raffles, draws, tombolas, busking, and market stalls. The money raised benefits members in all orchestras and ensembles. We sponsor the Beverley Chamber Music Festival ‘Master Class’ workshops, and subsidise coach travel, in-house workshops and foreign tours. We also donate instruments, pay to repair damaged old ones, and provide music and various accessories for the tutors’ ‘wish list’. We also provide refreshments at concerts and a very popular Saturday tuck shop—all helped by volunteer parents of course! |
